In order to carry out the structural roof structure with insulation layers and roof waterproofing in accordance with the guidelines, a corresponding reinforced concrete upstand for the roof finish must be concreted on top of the shell as early as the shell construction.
This wall-like elevation, the total height of which depends on the layer structure, is called an attic.
With a flat roof pitch of up to 5°, the connection height of roofing membranes should be at least 15 cm above the surface, pavement or gravel fill (water-bearing layer).
For a flat roof pitch of more than 5°, approx. 10 cm is sufficient.
The waterproofing membranes are usually led up to the outer edge of the backsplash and fastened. The designs of the connections are described in the flat roof guidelines.
