Hybrid turf for sports fields

Natural grass sports surface, reinforced by artificial fibres. Three common variants are used for the construction or conversion of football pitches with hybrid turf:

  • Variant 1: Synthetic fibres and various additives are mixed into the turf base layer.
  • Variant 2: A plastic mat is placed on the ground level, filled with material for the turf base layer and appropriate seeds are sprinkled in.
  • Variant 3: Plastic fibres are implanted in the natural turf, which reach approx. 16 - 18 cm deep into the ground and bond with the roots of the natural turf there.

The first two variants are used as part of sports field construction in the municipal sector, as well as in stadiums or in higher-class training centres. The third variant is currently used in various Bundesliga stadiums and training performance centres of higher-class clubs and is also referred to as "Bundesliga hybrid turf" by some manufacturers.

Appearance: The extensive plant growth creates an aesthetic and natural surface.

Properties: The hybrid turf combines the robustness of an artificial turf with the optimal ground/playing properties of a natural turf.

Use in construction: Especially in Bundesliga stadiums, but increasingly also in municipal sports facilities.
