Pile height, pile weight, pile insert weight and number of studs for textile floor coverings

In the case of textile floor coverings with pile pile, e.g. loop pile or cut pile coverings (velour carpets), pile height, pile weight and number of pile studs are important property and quality features.

Pole height: The pole height, also called pole thickness or pile layer thickness, is given in mm. Depending on the polar altitude, one also speaks of deep-pile and low-pile carpets. DIN EN 14041 requires a minimum pile thickness of 1.8 mm so that a textile floor covering is classified as normally flammable according to Table 2.

Pile weight: Weight of the finished pile thread / m² floor covering area.

Pile weight: Weight of the pile thread used for production / m² of floor covering area. It can still be reduced during the manufacturing process.

Number

of studs (stitch density): The number of studs results from the needle spacing and the stitch density and provides information about the number of pile threads on a certain surface. It is given in pieces per dm² or per m², the higher it is, the denser the usable area and thus the higher the quality of the carpet.
