Zinc is one of the transition metals and is weather- and corrosion-resistant. The color is bluish-white. Since it is a brittle metal, it is used less and less as roofing in its pure form. Instead, titanium zinc, an alloy of zinc, titanium and copper, is usually used. This is more corrosion-resistant and mechanically resilient than pure zinc. The high linear thermal expansion is also significantly reduced compared to pure zinc. For roofing, zinc sheet and titanium zinc sheet are produced in sheets or coils (strip metal rolls).
