Drywall firewall

Wall construction in dry construction that meets the requirements for fire walls under building regulations. In detail, this means that it

  • is made of non-combustible building materials,
  • is fire-resistant in terms of stability and room closure, and
  • remains stable and enclosing the room even under additional mechanical impact
.

The classification of these requirements used to be done according to DIN 4102. Since 2002, however, new products have only been classified according to DIN EN 13501. As a non-load-bearing (drywall) wall, a fire wall has the fire resistance class Ei 90-M and all building materials the building material class A.

The exact construction method can be found in the building authority approval of the respective product. As a rule, the required increased mechanical resistance of a drywall fire wall is achieved by a full-surface sheet steel insert of approx. 0.5 mm thickness, which is attached on both sides of the wall below the uppermost planking layer.
