If the supply air intake is positioned unfavourably, both indoors and outdoors, so-called short-circuit flows can occur. In the case of outside air openings that have been positioned too close to the exhaust air opening, the fresh outside air can be mixed with the used exhaust air. Care must also be taken to avoid short-circuit flows between the supply and exhaust air within the rooms by keeping the ventilation openings at a sufficient distance from each other or by means of long-range nozzles to ensure better air distribution.
