In outdoor facilities with floor coverings such as balconies, loggias and terraces, the majority of rainwater accumulates unabated as surface water. For this reason, drainage must be carried out both via the surface and via a drainage level.
These drainage layers usually consist of profiled plastic sheets, foam drainage mats or single-grain lightweight concrete, which are placed over a separating layer on the waterproofing. This ensures that the water is directed to the drainage drains.
If a drainage layer is pushed, the face must run parallel to the main direction of flow. This is caused by a gradient of at least 1-2%.
In the case of lowered door thresholds or barrier-free construction, permanently backwater-free drainage must be guaranteed. The connection height of the water-conducting layer of 15 cm cannot be maintained, which is why approx. 10-15 cm wide gratings must be installed between the door and the floor covering. Additional water is channelled into the drainage layer via these.
Balcony drainage systems are offered as ready-made drainage systems.
