Automatic door systems, classification according to DIN 18650-1

The classification of automatic door systems according to DIN 18650-1 is based on the following criteria:

  1. Type of drive (swing door drive, sliding door drive, Swing slide door drive, Folding door drive or revolving door drive)
  2. Durability of the drive (200,000, 500,000 or 1,000,000 test cycles according to DIN EN 14351-1)
  3. Door design (swing door, sliding door, swing sliding door, folding door or Revolving door)
  4. Suitable as a fire door (not suitable or suitable as a fire and/or smoke protection door)
  5. Safety equipment on the drive (requirements for a force limitation, connection for external safety systems or low energy)
  6. Special requirements for the drive (none, in escape routes with/without swivel fitting, for self-closing fire doors with/without swivel fitting)
  7. Safety on the automatic door system (no safety devices, sufficiently dimensioned safety distances, protection against crushing/shearing/pulling in of fingers, built-in swivel hardware unit or sensory protective devices)
  8. Ambient temperature (no specification, −15 °C to +50 °C, −15 °C to +75 °C or according to the manufacturer's specifications)

The criteria listed above are combined in an eight-digit coding system (see DIN 18650-1 No. 4).
