The brick suspended ceiling is a beamed ceiling in which ceiling tiles are hung on site between reinforced concrete beams prefabricated in the factory with a brick shell on the underside. The beams are usually laid as single-axis tensioned systems in a grid of 62.5 cm. They have a brick U-shell on the underside, so that a uniform brick soffit is created. The ceiling tiles are hung by hand between the aligned beams. The bricks will then be poured with the reinforced concrete beams. In this way, the superficial closure and the bond with the reinforcement protruding from the precast beam is achieved. If necessary, the ceiling is also poured with circumferential ring anchors and beams. The reinforcing steel protruding from the girder ends is used to bond with them. Assembly support is generally required.
This type of ceiling is used, among other things, in the renovation of old buildings and in confined spaces. Its individual parts are lightweight and can be transported and used without heavy equipment, lifting equipment is not mandatory. The reinforced concrete beams must be approved by the building authorities.
