With mixed ventilation, depending on the depth of the room, the supply air is introduced either via a specially designed poppet valve or via a long-throw nozzle above the door and then sweeps along the underside of the ceiling until it mixes with the room air, slowly sinks and escapes the room through the door gap. This arrangement allows for shorter pipe lengths, but has the disadvantage that slightly higher flow velocities occur at the air outlet and the long-throw nozzles are often perceived as unaesthetic.
