Glulam, qualities

Glulam is divided into the following qualities:

GL24h, GL24c, GL28h, GL28c, GL32h, GL32c, GL36h, GL36c

Example:

• GL: "Glued Laminated Timber" = glued laminated timber
• 24-36: permissible characteristic bending stress in N/mm²
• c or h: "combined" or "homogeneous" glulam

In combined glulam, the outer slats have a higher strength class than the inner ones. In homogeneous glulam, all lamellae have the same strength class. Without specification, c is always required.

In addition, a distinction is made between industrial, visual and readout quality. Without further information, glulam must always be supplied in visual quality, but industrial quality can also be used for concealed installation.
