LCN

The Local Control Network (LCN) is a proprietary building automation system developed by the German company Issendorff KG. Communication takes place via a wire of the power lines laid in addition to the normal electrical installation. Data communication takes place via the additional wire and the neutral conductor. LCN is designed in its complexity in such a way that trained electrical installation companies can implement the installation of an LCN system. Since all components must be supplied with the "normal" 230 V mains voltage, the possibilities for reducing electrosmog are severely limited with this system. As with all other proprietary systems, the components including the software are manufactured and distributed by only one manufacturer.

For the LCN bus system, there are components for the realization of a central as well as a decentralized installation. The data is processed decentrally, so that a central control unit is not necessary but optionally possible. Programming is carried out by trained personnel on paid software.
