Hollow stone ceiling

The hollow stone slab (also known as concrete block slab, hollow-core slab or hand-mounted slab) is a type of slab in which reinforced concrete beams or reinforced concrete grids are laid from wall to wall, often in a grid of 62.5 cm. Ceiling stones made of normal or lightweight concrete are suspended between the girders, creating a closed lower slab surface. By pouring with concrete, the superficial closure and the bond with the reinforcement protruding from the precast girder is achieved. This type of ceiling is used in particular in the renovation of old buildings and in confined spaces. Its individual parts are lightweight and can be transported and used without heavy equipment, lifting equipment is not mandatory. In addition to the general DIN standards for the construction of concrete structures, DIN EN 15037-2 applies in particular to hollow stone ceilings with suspended concrete blocks.
