In the area of the building base, it is not desirable to carry vertical waterproofing up above the upper edge of the ground, especially for design reasons. If, in the case of plastered exterior walls, the plaster surface is to extend to the ground connection, the waterproofing layer of the wall in contact with the ground made of PMBC 5 cm to 20 cm below OK terrain must end in the base area on a plasterable waterproofing layer made of crack-bridging mineral sealing slurries (MDS) 10 cm overlapping and backflow-proof.
The details are regulated in DIN 18533-3.

In the base area, a plaster suitable for splash water pollution must be used. The lower edge of the plaster must also be sealed with MDS ≥ 5 cm above OK terrain so that the plaster cross-section cannot be infiltrated by moisture from below.
For use as waterproofing, only crack-bridging MDS with a crack bridging of at least 0.4 mm may
be used.
