Volume scale in decibels (dB)

The "volume" is commonly expressed in decibels (dB). The information in the decibel scales is done logarithmically in the auxiliary unit of measurement decibels, since in a linear scale the differences are hardly visible at low values. An increase of 10 decibels means a doubling of the volume.

The following scale shows the different noise levels as well as comparable events in the logarithmic arrangement:
