Façade greening

A façade greening is a controlled plant growth with usually specially made components as planters or growth aids. In most cases, an automated irrigation control system with nutrient feed is required for plant nutrition.

Façade greening has a positive effect on the surrounding microclimate and biodiversity. In addition, some plants can help improve the air and absorb nitrogen oxides or particulate matter. What all systems have in common is that they require a lot of planning and usually require a lot of maintenance. There are basically two forms of façade greening:

  1. Ground-based façade greening can do without additional irrigation if there is sufficient ground contact. A distinction is made between self-climmers such as ivy and conductive growth with growth aids.
  2. Wall-mounted façade greening is available as horizontal planters, modular or flat systems.
