By using modular systems with fixed element sizes, formwork systems can quickly form large areas.
In the case of industrially prefabricated formwork elements, a basic distinction is made between panel and beam formwork. The so-called climbing formwork is a special case that is stored on climbing brackets and can thus be moved upwards quickly.
Panel formwork:
Concrete formwork systems in which the modules with fixed element sizes consist of edging, stiffening and formlining are called panel formwork. The finished elements can be quickly moved and reconnected by crane. The formwork lining is already attached to the frame with bracing, which was welded at the factory. These formwork elements are already delivered ready-made. The elements (steel or aluminium frames) are connected to each other by means of so-called tendons.
Large-area formwork:
Large-area formwork consists of the formwork lining that is attached to a shoring system. It is used for the production of cantilevered or large-format walls, columns or ceilings. The shoring is often made up of wooden truss girders, which are stiffened by steel belts running perpendicular to them. Compared to panel formwork, the formwork surface and the arrangement of the anchor holes can be freely selected.
