Light well

Light wells can be made of in-situ concrete, precast concrete or plastic, for example. Correct sealing is important here. The fastenings of prefabricated light well elements and the connection points often represent weak points. In general, the light well construction is attached to a fully sealed component from the outside. Screw joints may have to be carefully filled.

The water supply and drainage in the area of the light shaft should not be neglected. This depends on the size of the light well, the infiltration capacity of the soil and the expected water to be produced.

To protect basement windows against burglary, light shafts are secured against the grating being picked up from below.
