The testing of the equipment and the necessary maintenance work should be carried out according to the manufacturer's instructions. The following inspections must always be provided:
Visual inspections: The frequency depends on the hazard and the stress, e.g. due to vandalism or weather influences. Visual inspections should be carried out daily or weekly by the pedagogical staff, the security officers or employees of the city/municipality.
Functional checks: The function and stability of the devices should be checked by a suitable person every one to three months. The contents of this inspection are, for example, the cleanliness of the facility, the inspection of the necessary fall protection, the ground clearance of the playground equipment, the excessive wear and tear of the equipment and the inspection of whether foundations are exposed.
Annual inspections: The annual inspection or general inspection preferably takes place at the beginning of the playing season by an expert. It is advisable to commission an independent expert with the work who does not continuously supervise the equipment, e.g. during the necessary functional checks. The inspection includes the determination of the operational safety of the entire facilities, foundations and surfaces. The devices must be checked from all sides for wear and rotting.
