In order for a component to be able to demonstrably meet the fire resistance requirements set out in the state building code or supplementary legal provisions (e.g. a garage ordinance or a special building ordinance) as a room-enclosing component, it must be classified either according to the German (DIN 4102) or European standard (DIN EN 13501), in the case of non-load-bearing interior walls as follows:
*alternatively, it is also possible to design with partition walls whose load-bearing and stiffening parts consist of combustible building materials (e.g. wood) if they have cladding made of non-combustible building materials (fire protection cladding), whose fire protection capacity has been proven in addition to fire resistance and is classified as K2 60 in accordance with DIN EN 13501-2 (see Appendix 0.1.2 to the Building Rule List A Part 1 in conjunction with the respective Land Building Code).
The information also applies mutatis mutandis to the classification of facing shells and shaft walls. In the case of shaft walls in particular, it must also be checked whether the classification of the respective construction products/construction methods applies from both sides (in the case of fire from the room and from the shaft side), insofar as this is necessary in the individual case.
