The series of standards for passenger lifts specify the minimum dimensions for the passenger car depending on the load capacity and thus the number of persons to be transported. In addition to the width and depth of the elevator shaft, the door widths, cabin dimensions and engine compartment dimensions are also specified. The shaft dimensions are independent of the drive type, except for bed lifts with 1,600 kg and 2,000 kg. Here, a wider shaft is required with hydraulic drive.
In the case of elevator groups, i.e. in the case of several elevators connected by control technology with the same drive system and the same vestibule in a common shaft, the shaft depth remains the same as that for individual elevators. The minimum total shaft width is the sum of the minimum widths for the required individual shafts and at least 200 mm between each two sub-shafts.
