Monolithic rammed earth walls are becoming increasingly popular. The building material can be used as a load-bearing component, has an interesting appearance and has a positive effect on the indoor climate.
Production:
During production, earth-moist clay is mixed with water, straw and/or gravel. The mass is then placed in layers in a formwork. The clay must be compacted layer by layer.
For the on-site production of rammed earth components, local material, sometimes even excavated material, can be used. Rammed earth walls can be well processed, retouched and designed during the drying time after stripping.
Weather protection:
Rammed earth develops into a stable building material through drying, but remains water-soluble. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the material is not directly exposed to the weather.
Protection of clay walls:
Rammed earth as prefabricated elements
With regard to today's common construction processes and construction schedules, manufacturers are increasingly reacting by developing prefabricated clay building elements.
Prefabrication enables weather-independent production as well as clean installation without long drying times. The joining of components can take place precisely through industrial production.
