Beavertail Tile

The beaver tail tile is produced as a strand brick. It is available with an arched, round or straight cut at the bottom. The surfaces are smooth or have flat, vertically running ribs. The beavertail tile is one of the oldest known and still existing roof tiles and is often used in the renovation of historic buildings. A distinction is made between three types of cover: double covering, crown covering and single covering, also known as split covering. The beavertail tile can be laid very well on softly shaped roofs, e.g. with curved throats or bat dormers.
