Natural grass for sports fields

A sports turf surface consists of a turf surface and a turf base layer. If the underlying subsoil is not capable of seeping, it is also recommended to install a drainage system, e.g. pipeless drainage slots or a drainage layer, each with a connection to drainage lines. In order for sports surfaces with natural turf to meet the required technical requirements, high demands are placed on the stability, evenness and water permeability of the substrate. Specific technical specifications are contained in DIN 18035-4 (Sports fields - Part 4: Lawns).

Appearance: With proper and professional care, lush green and dense sward.

Characteristics: Natural grass is a living crop that provides many vegetation services. Turf grasses provide resilience and elasticity, which offsets shocks and protects players. Other properties such as shear strength, force relief and glide allow players to make the most of their gaming skills.

Use in construction: On sports fields for ball sports such as football, hockey and tennis, but also for golf.

Example 1 - Construction method without soil improvement and drainage system:

  1. turf cover
  2. Turf base course (80 - 120 mm)
  3. interleaving
  4. Subsoil

example 2 - Construction method with soil improvement and drainage drainage:

  1. Turf cover
  2. Turf base course (80 - 120 mm)
  3. Improved subsoil
  4. Interlocking
  5. Partially permeable subsoil
  6. Drain line with drainage pipe
