Cold self-adhesive membranes are composite membranes made of plastic or elastomer bitumen and an aluminium carrier insert. The metal insert made of aluminium ensures vapour tightness. On the underside, these strips are provided with an adhesive compound and a peeling foil, which is peeled off in order to be able to glue the membrane to the substrate over the entire surface or to the high corrugations of trapezoidal sheets. They are therefore cold glued on without burners and flames, making them particularly suitable for applications where the substrate or the connection area is sensitive to heat, such as on wooden formwork. Self-adhesive membranes require a flat and smooth surface, so they are usually not used on concrete surfaces. Self-adhesive membranes can be laid quickly and are therefore cost-effective. However, they can only be used when the ground is dry.
