The light reference value of a colour tone indicates what proportion of the amount of light is reflected by the surface in %, a light colour tone reflects a lot of light and a dark colour tone reflects little light. White therefore has a light reference value of about 100%, black a light reference value of 0%. All intervening hues are assigned a light reference value according to their brightness.
