Joint sheet metal

Joint plates are strips of sheet metal used in concrete construction that connect two waterproof concrete components separated by a construction joint .

The use of joint sheets is regulated in the WU guideline of the DAfStb and dimensions are described accordingly in the building rule list A Part 1. According to the WU guideline, only joint plates made of grease-free and uncoated sheets may be used. For coated joint sheets, a "proof of usability" in the form of a "general building inspection test certificate" (abP) is always required.

Installation using the example of the floor slab: The joint plate is attached to the reinforcement of the floor slab in such a way that part of the sheet metal protrudes from the previously poured floor slab and is also poured in when the rising wall is later poured. For other component connections - for example wall-wall - the sheets have different shapes adapted to the intended use.

The joints with joint plates are not elastic, so expansion joint tapes are used, for example. (Elastomer or Tricomer joint sealing tapes)
