Wind seals protect open-flow insulation materials from the penetration of cold outside air. They are permeable to diffusion so that moisture that penetrates the component can diffuse back to the outside.
Depending on the wall structure, the wind seal is made of a vapour-permeable film or hydrophobic soft wood fibreboard. In the case of soft wood fibre boards, the joints between the individual boards must be taped off windproof. Soft wood fibre boards also contribute to summer thermal insulation with their good buffering capacity.
