The maintenance of a hybrid lawn is similar to the maintenance of a natural grass, but it is more intensive because it is necessary to switch to frequent harrowing in order to straighten the synthetic fibres and maintain the horizon.
A special device with metal tines, also known as a "hedgehog", is used to comb the lawn to remove organic material such as thatch and dead blades. Thatch can occur if the clippings are left lying around during mowing. Therefore, it should be picked up and disposed of immediately. After one to two years, depending on the intensity of care, the turf must be milled off and freed from rampant natural grass. This is the only way the hybrid system can remain effective.
