Wood wool and multi-layer lightweight panels

Lightweight wood wool boards (HWL boards) are dimensionally stable and strong boards made of long-fibre wood wool and mineral binders. Multi-layer lightweight boards (ML boards), on the other hand, are boards that consist of an insulating layer of rigid foam or mineral fibres and a layer of mineral-bonded wood wool on one or both sides.

More about wood wool and multi-layer lightweight panels

When it comes to insulation materials, a distinction is made between rigid foam ML boards and mineral fibre ML boards. Cement according to DIN 1164 Part 1 or caustically fired magnesite is used as a binder for both HWL boards and for the wood wool layers of ML boards.

Lightweight

wood wool panels are used as plaster substrates, e.g. for ceilings or roof soffits, as well as acoustic panels for sound insulation. They are also used in masonry and concrete construction, especially for the insulation of highly thermally conductive materials, but also as plaster substrates or as acoustic panels. In timber construction, they are also used as plaster substrates, but also for planking the outer walls.
