Floor slabs as foundation slabs are made of reinforced concrete and are used as shallow foundations or as a substructure for basement buildings when the ground is poor. In most cases, the slab is placed on a cleanliness layer of unreinforced concrete, or on a substructure of at least 20 cm of coarse gravel, which then serves as a capillary layer.
Diffusion-tight PE films (polyethylene films) seal the concrete against moisture.
