Wind paper is a layer in the structure of the outer wall that is intended to prevent draughts or wind from penetrating through the walls into the interior of the building.
Originally, wind paper was actually paper that was made impermeable to water by applying wax or oil and nailed to the inside against the walls of e.g. log buildings. Although the term "wind paper" is still common, today it is mostly diffusion-open films. This is stapled to the beams / wooden frame in a single layer.
The use of materials that are open to diffusion is important. The passage of air through the building is to be prevented without hindering the moisture exchange of the building construction.
