Bitumen membrane floor slab

Various waterproofing systems can be used to seal floor slabs and floors. The most reliable, but also the most complex type of floor waterproofing is the use of waterproofing membranes. Bitumen membranes are mainly used here - usually as welding membranes - or plastic membranes, which are e.g. soaked welded.

As a rule, a capillary-breaking layer of gravel or gravel under the floor slab provides the seal against moisture rising from the groundwater. If this layer is present, the floor slab can be sealed at the top to make it diffusion-tight. Without this layer, the floor must be sealed with material that acts capillary and is open to diffusion.

A suitable floor structure is then applied to the waterproofing membrane (in addition to any insulation on the floor slab). The following structures are suitable for this purpose:

· Mastic asphalt

· Anhydrite screed

· Cement screed

· Dry subfloor made of chipboard

· Dry subfloor made of gypsum boards

Notes on planning The

installation of waterproofing membranes offers advantages over other waterproofing systems, such as surface tightness and the relatively inexpensive connections to the waterproofing of the walls.
