A wooden plank façade made of simple planks is the simplest and most traditional wooden façade. It provides sufficient weather protection for the façade, an additional rainproof façade membrane is not necessary. The parallel edged boards with a rough-sawn, planed, brushed or coated surface are mounted on a wooden batten. The arrangement of the wooden boards is possible vertically (often as lid formwork), horizontally (usually as inverted formwork), in each case also with open spacing, and diagonally.
The boards can be ordered in different thicknesses, widths and lengths, although the length is limited depending on the type of wood and the size of the tree. From a certain board width, the risk of the board warping increases. As a rule, façade boards are offered up to a length of 5 m and a width of up to 19 cm. In addition, special dimensions are possible on order. Due to the small individual elements, this type of wooden façade offers a great deal of design freedom, as different types of installation can also be combined, for example. Maintenance and repair of wooden board facades is very simple, as individual elements can be easily replaced.
