Wooden fence

Wooden fences are among the most traditional enclosures and are especially common in rural areas. A wooden fence always consists of posts to which horizontal support rails are mounted for the attachment of the individual fence elements (e.g. boards, slats, pickets), whereby posts and support rails can also be made of different materials. Wood, wall pillars, metal posts or stone pillars are suitable as posts, and iron wire, for example, serves as carrying rails in addition to wood, as in the case of picket fences. With the horizontal board fence, there is no need for carrying friction, as the boards are mounted directly from post to post. The durability and maintenance intensity of a wooden fence depend on the type of wood chosen and whether the wood is surface treated with glazes or varnishes.
