Interior plaster, suitable for damp rooms

According to DIN 18550, interior plasters with gypsum mortar may not be used for damp rooms, with the exception of domestic kitchens and bathrooms. Three areas of application can therefore be distinguished:

  1. Interiors with a largely constant room temperature (approx. 20° C), without short-term or permanently increased humidity, e.g. living rooms, offices, classrooms.
  2. Indoor spaces with temporarily increased humidity, e.g. domestic kitchens and bathrooms, utility rooms, hobby cellars. In areas directly exposed to splashing water (e.g. in showers or above bathtubs/washbasins), additional measures may be necessary (e.g. waterproofing for plasters containing gypsum) or suitability may be excluded in principle (e.g. clay plaster).
  3. Indoor spaces with a room temperature well below 20° C and/or permanently elevated humidity, e.g. commercial kitchens, communal showers, swimming pools, unheated warehouses.
