The office is part of the Vorarlberg architecture scene and strongly influenced by the craft environment. We are characterized by a wide range of construction tasks. Building means the search for context: creating references to the place, with all its imprints of nature, buildings and society. We are connected to a modern and future-oriented design language. However, architecture is not only the search for formal expression, but the result of an intensive examination in the field of tension between the diverse framework conditions and architectural joy in the new.
Two major issues challenge us: Sustainable construction in the broadest sense and modern timber construction. Due to our intensive and long-standing experience with the biogenic building material wood, we are able to break boundaries. The advantages of wood, with its ecological potential, are convincing. The domestic building material offers the opportunity of an alternative and future-oriented construction process and is to be brought back into our living and working environments as an important alternative to conventional materials. Sustainable construction means more than the nearly zero-energy and passive house concepts that are now taken for granted.
For us, sustainability means: aspects of building quality, life cycle and ecology. With intelligent concepts, we want to create durable and versatile buildings.
In 1983, Hermann Kaufmann opened the architectural office in Schwarzach. Commitment, a basic basis for craftsmanship and sound training were the basis for a successful start. The one-man office shared with Christian Lenz grew continuously to its current size of 21 employees. The number and range of projects implemented is large, with timber construction as a focal point running like a red thread through the history of the office. Almost 80% of all completed buildings are pure timber buildings or hybrids.
The employees provide a comprehensive service to the customer. From design to detailed planning to construction management, everything can be offered from a single source, which is clear and uncomplicated for the customer. In recent years, cost planning has taken on a special importance, so that this important task can be carried out competently, as well as the general planning activity, which is increasingly required.
