The Brenac and Gonzalez Architecture Workshop was founded in the 1980s by Xavier Gonzalez and Olivier Brenac of the Paris-Belleville School of Architecture and the École Spéciale d'Architecture, respectively. Today, it has three other partners and around forty employees: Jean-Pierre Lévêque, Emmanuel Person and Guillaume Maréchaux.
It includes all kinds of programs: housing, equipment, offices, hospitals, urban planning, etc. When I look at the agency's production, I am struck by the liberation from all dogmas in favor of a pragmatic attitude. The positions were liberated, the architectural typeface was free of any affiliation and prohibition. There is no longer transgression, but a combinatorial game. Projects are made from processes whose parameters - contexts, locations, customers, programs, financing, experimentation - are all determining factors for aesthetic decisions.
