Allford Hall Monaghan Morris builds buildings that are satisfying and pleasant to use, beautiful to look at and easy to understand. We design very different buildings for very different people, which can be used in very different ways. We believe in building both places and buildings that function over time and have lasting qualities inherent in their architecture.
For us, a project starts with a strategy, not a design solution. This strategy stems from understanding the fundamental drivers of a briefing and the associated parameters, problems, and opportunities. It involves a broader definition of the context than political, economic, or social, as well as architectural. We look for ways to create good architecture in every location, budget and program. And while this may involve a complexity of thinking, it results in a simple, readable proposal that can be flexible in response to change, but still stays true to the core of the mission. Only then does a design idea emerge, an idea that is robust enough to withstand the expected pressure on the way to the finished building. In the implementation, we can rely on previous projects, but always test with the overall framework for the new.
We follow a pragmatic, analytical and open way of working that produces a responsive, intelligent architecture. This clarity with which we work facilitates discussion between all stakeholders, including customers, users, planners and contractors, and leads to a clear and logical aesthetic approach. We innovate because we know that innovation is as much about finding easier ways to do things better as it is about doing new things.
