Since the 1990s, contemporary architecture has increasingly been confronted with a contradictory phenomenon that occurs at all levels and fields of work. On the one hand, architects are asked to build very neutral and anonymous buildings that are easily modifiable, can react to changing economic conditions and can be adapted to different programs. On the other hand, they are also asked to create very specific buildings that are easy to identify, have a pleasant shape with unique spaces and can be used by users. Atelier Kempe Thill very consciously takes this modern paradox as the starting point of its work. The office is thus able to create neutral and economical, but also pleasant and innovative structures. In this way, architecture can freely express the hidden vitality of our time.
